MADISON, N.J. -- A late goal in the first half and three more in the second helped The College of New Jersey stay undefeated as the Lions netted a 4-1 road win at FDU-Florham on Thursday.
The win put the fourth-ranked Lions at 6-0 on the season, while the Devils dipped to 3-4.
Junior Leigh Applestein gave the Lions a huge boast late in the first half scoring on a breakaway with 46 seconds before the break, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead.
In the second half, junior Jordan Downs cashed in a penalty kick making it a 2-0 lead. That goal came 14:34 into the new period.
Seven minutes later, TCNJ struck again as senior midfielder Sloan DePiero knocked in her second of the season on an assist from freshman Brianna Petro.
The final goal for the Lions came with 9:58 left in the game with freshman Chalen Noble collected her first collegiate goal. That goal came on an assist from classmate Lauren Malajian.
The Devils spoiled TCNJ's bid for a second consecutive shutout with 1:13 left.
Senior keeper Kendra Griffith made one save for her 39th career victory.
