Bloomsburg 10, Lock Haven 1

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa.---A five run fourth inning led the No. 3 Bloomsburg University Huskies to a 10-1 win over the No. 4 ranked Lock Haven Eagles in the fourth game of the NCAA Division II Mid-Atlantic Region tournament.

Bloomsburg took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning with three straight hits. Kelly Zarski and Dee Wolfe singled, and Sara Roba hit an RBI double to right center field to score Zarski. Wolfe crossed the plate on a world pitch.

The Huskies increased their lead to 3-0 in the third. With the bases loaded, an error on a dropped ball by the first baseman allowed Zarski to score.

Bloomsburg broke the game wide open in the top of the fourth, with five runs crossing the plate to take an 8-1 lead. Included in the scoring was RBI doubles by Wolfe and Laurel Koster. Zarski and Roba each had RBI singles.

Lock Haven got on the board in the bottom of the fourth, when Danielle Fraser hit a home run to cut the lead to 8-1.

In the sixth, Wolfe and Roba each had RBI hits to send two more Husky runs home, increasing their lead to 10-1.

Wolfe, Zarski and Roba each went 3-for-4 at the plate for Bloomsburg. Roba led the team with three RBIs.

Amanda Smith pitched six innings for Bloomsburg, allowing one run on four hits and striking out two. She raises her record to 15-3.

For Lock Haven, Shona Guevara went 3.2 innings, and picked up the loss to go to 18-5 for the year. Jeanette Middlestead and Molly Shuey also pitched in the game.

The Eagles were led at the plate by Stephanie Hallowell, who went 2-for-3.

Bloomsburg will take on Shippensburg tomorrow at 2:00 p.m., while Lock Haven moves into the consolation bracket and faces Kutztown at 10:00 a.m.
