SHIPPENSBURG, Pa.---Indiana (Pa.) broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the fourth inning to defeat the Lock Haven Eagles 3-1 in game eight of the NCAA Division II Mid-Atlantic Region tournament on Friday afternoon.

With three straight singles from Hilary Tutrani, Julie Huebner and Becky Petro, IUP scored two runs to take a 3-0 lead.

Pitcher Jodie Swavely retired the Lady Eagles the remainder of the way to earn the win and go to 18-5 on the year. She allowed four hits in the game, striking out five.

The Indians were led at the plate by Huebner, who went 2-for-3 and scored a run.

For Lock Haven, Jeanette Middlestead went 3.1 innings and got the loss to fall to 13-4. She allowed seven runs and three hits. Shona Guevara also pitched 2.2 innings.

For the Eagles, Heather Johnson went 2-for-3.

IUP struck first in the game, with a run crossing the plate in the first inning. With the bases loaded, Carolyn Fendrich hit an RBI single up the middle to score Becky Lewis for a 1-0 lead.

Lock Haven came back in the third to tie the game at 1-1. Lynn Spiezio singled to shortstop, and stole second to move into scoring position. She scored when Steph Hallowell singled to center field.
