REGIONAL TITLE GAME

Florida Southern Head Coach Thomas Macera
This team last year batted .240. This team last year had 81 errors. This team only had 37 home runs. This team last year the pitcher was 21-9. Now this team is batting .350, they have over 80 home runs, the third baseman last year had 25 errors, this year she only had nine. We worked for this. I brought in four players in January who contributed immediately.

They had to buy in to what I was teaching. Every day we work...They dont get that time off, they dont get that break. I stay on them every practice ... we work.

On Murch after a three-week layoff ...
I think that the 14-inning game actually helped her. It knocked the rust off.

Florida Southern pitcher and Tournament MVP Aimee Murch
They were definitely tired and we had a lot of rest yesterday. We came out strong today. The two runs we scored early definitely helped out.

On the trouble in the sixth ...
I really was not worried, but I think that coach (Macera) was.

On being named Regional MVP ...
I am really excited. I have never been to nationals before. I was kind of surprised that I got MVP ... I was kind of shaky on the first day. I am really excited. We had three weeks off and it is hard getting back started after three weeks.

Florida Southern freshman shortstop Acosta
It was a total team effort. We were all pumped from the game from yesterday and we were all excited today. It is really excited, I can not wait to get to Nationals.

It is always a good thing to have Aimee pitching. We scored early, but it takes seven innings to win a softball game.

West Florida Head Coach Tami Cyr

On playing after 14-inning affair ...
The long game this morning probably did not help much. The girls played well, the weather was great. It was not too hot. Aimee (Murch) pitched a good game ...she put the balls where they were supposed to be. She totally had a presence and command out there.

On the season ..
We went 60-6 on the season. That is not too shabby ... we won our conference tournament. We were ranked number one all week long. They had a great season ... it is nothing to hang their heads about. They wanted it, but it hurts.

On scoring opportunity in 6th inning...
We did ... I thought we had a chance ... but then again, Murch had control of the game. I wish (Florida Southern).
