Head Coach Ken Eriksen
On leaving runners on base:
Its so close you can taste it. You know, then all of a sudden its gone, and theres never another opportunity. What I ask these kids to do for us, you know, I asked them, I didnt tell them, I asked them, and every one said, Ill do whatever it takes to win for the green and gold.

Senior First Baseman Carmela Liwag
On Bethune-Cookmans pitcher, Lauren McCoy:
I dont think she was doing anything different than shes done before. We were hitting the ball really well, we were putting it in play. I mean you just have to tip your hat to her, she did her job, we did our job and their fielding did their job too.

On Bethune-Cookmans tournament performance:
You cant go in thinking that a team is gonna lie down for you. Youve got to take every team with a 0-0 record going in like theyre the best team in the world, and you have to play your best defense. So, I wasnt surprised at all.

On leaving runners on base:
Anytime you leave runners on, its very frustrating.

Head Coach Lauren Watten
Opening Statement&
Im glad this is over because we have been there so many times. We always said that when we won one game in the regional, we would just break it wide open. We bounced back from losing the [Mid-Eastern Athletic] Conference tournament. I said when we lost the conference Who needs a conference championship ring when you win a regional championship? This is much bigger. We earned it and we made it known that we belonged in this tournament.

On whether she envisioned this success when she started at B-CC&
Absolutely. I went down there because I knew it was somewhere that I could go and do a lot. We have such great support from everyone. We dont have a three million-dollar stadium like some places, or really more than most high schools, but we have a lot of support. These kids come with their hearts. And they play, and they play, and they play. I have had this vision for a long time.

On whether other teams have as much fun playing as B-CC does&
No. People see us having a good time and I think it gets in their heads a little bit. We are having fun and its got to be fun. These kids are still young and in college. This is not life, because you have to live that life forever. When we play, we have fun and enjoy it. Theyre playing a sport, its not a job.

On the teams goals&
I think that we will have to re-evaluate our goals a little bit. One of our goals this season was to beat Florida and we did that. We wanted to win 50 games with less than 20 losses. We didnt know if we would be here this weekend because in the MEAC, we have never gotten respect. People always underestimate us. We came out and proved that we deserved to be here and be a part of this.

Senior catcher Rachel Kilbert
On how the team feels with the win&
Were excited. We knew that once we passed the hump of that first win in the regionals, we would be unstoppable.

On the national perception of B-CC&
People have always underestimated us. That feeds usit has to. We just have to come out and play our game.

Senior pitcher Lauren McCoy
On Bethune-Cookman winning the NCAA Regional&
We have always been competitive and scrappy. The idea of realizing our potential is really exciting.

On her calm demeanor with the bases loaded in the fifth inning&
I just knew that there was nothing left to do. You can do one of two thingsyou can look frazzled or you can go out there and do your job.
