HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Freshman outfielder Meagan Billingsley hit three home runs in a sweep of West Florida on Sunday afternoon as No. 3 Alabama-Huntsville swept a doubleheader.

The Chargers pushed their winning streak to nine games, beating the Argonauts 9-1 in five innings and 10-3 at the Charger Softball Complex. With the wins, UAH improved to 22-1-1 and 6-0 in the Gulf South Conference, while UWF slipped to 10-10 and 1-5.

In the opening game, Billingsley was 3 for 3 with six RBI. She belted home runs in her first two plate appearances, including a grand slam. She only had one hit in the second game, but it was a 2-run shot off the scoreboard over the left field fence.

Kat Whitlock was also 2 for 2 in the opener with an RBI. Stephanie Needham had the big stick in the second game going 4 for 4 with a double and two RBI. Kelli Long, Whitlock and Abby MacKay each had two hits in the Chargers' 13-hit onslaught. Whitlock had two RBI while Long had a solo homer. Emily Roach and MacKay also had RBI for the Chargers.

Whitney Toler (8-0) was the winning pitcher in game one, cruising through five innings. She allowed one run on three hits, struck out four and walked one.

Senior lefty Alex Lewis (4-0) took the win in the second game, pitching 2 1/3 innings in relief. She allowed one hit, had a walk and two strikeouts.
