SALEM, Va. – Saginaw Valley State hurler Jade Fulton tossed a one-hit shutout while striking out 15 in a 2-0 victory versus C.W. Post in Saturday's elimination game at the NCAA Division II Championship.

Fulton walked just one batter and had a no-hitter through 6.1 innings during her masterful performance as she lifted SVSU to 41-17 on the season. C.W. Post concludes its year at 41-16.

After a scoreless first inning, the Cardinals managed to break through with the assist of a Pioneer miscue in the second. With one down, Marcy Medina singled to right but was erased on a fielder’s choice.

Kailah Happ singled, pushing Monica Gathright to second. However, a fielding error allowed Gathright to score. Kalie Burdick followed with a triple to right, plating Happ for a 2-0 advantage. The inning would have been extended, but a terrific play by the Pioneers cut down Burdick at home to end the frame.

The two runs would prove to be more than enough for Fulton, who allowed just two C.W. Post base runners on the day.

Christina Berardi had a great outing from the circle as well, but she was simply outshined by Fulton's dominating performance. Berardi also went the distance, allowing two runs on three hits. She struck out five while walking one.
