GREENVILLE, Tenn. -- No. 21 Lenoir-Rhyne (44-11) continued to move through the South Atlantic Conference tournament with an 8-0 win in five innings against Tusculum (31-24) on Friday afternoon at Red Edmonds Field.

The Bears also picked up their seventh consecutive victory in the process.

Lenoir-Rhyne senior Dawon Millwood, the 2011 and 2012 South Atlantic Conference Pitcher of the Year, fired a one-hit shutout for the Bears. Millwood improved to 30-6 on the season as she struck out six batters en route to the victory.

The Bears broke the game open with six runs in the bottom of the first inning capped off by a three-run home run from junior designated player Megan Laxton.

Lenoir-Rhyne pushed the advantage to 8-0 thanks to RBI doubles from senior second baseman Carlee Carpenter and senior catcher Sarah Atkins in the second inning.

Sophomore shortstop Jody Mizelle scored twice and freshman outfielder Brittany Coursen drove in two runs as well to lead Lenoir-Rhyne's 11-hit attack on the day.

Tusculum's Elizabeth Johnson fell to 26-12 on the year after suffering the defeat on the mound.
