BATON ROUGE, La. -- No. 22 North Carolina rebounded from an 8-0 loss Friday to beat No. 10 LSU 3-1 in an exciting rematch Sunday afternoon at Tiger Park.

The Tar Heels closed out their season-opening tournament with a 3-2 mark, including wins against Hampton and Purdue on Saturday.

The Tigers struck first, putting a run on the board in the fourth after Jacee Blades hit a leadoff single and then scored on Allison Falcon's RBI double.

North Carolina responded in the sixth, as senior Tisha Mahon and junior Amy Nece hit back-to-back successful bunts before freshman Erin Satterfield drew a walk to load the bases. Senior Haleigh Dickey grounded out while driving in Mahon to even the score at 1-1. Sophomore Amber Parrish then reached first on a fielder's choice, advancing Satterfield to third and putting Nece across the plate to put the Tar Heels on top. Senior Constance Orr hit a sacrifice fly to left field, driving in Satterfield to make it 3-1 in Carolina's favor.

The Tar Heels were able to hold the Tigers in the remaining two frames with several strong defensive plays as Carolina improved to 3-2 on the season.

Junior Lori Spingola (2-1) pitched a complete game, notching four strikeouts and giving up three hits and four walks.
