ANGOLA, Ind. -- Anderson (Ind.) defeated Allegheny 5-1 in the championship game of the Angola Regional on Monday to advance to the NCAA Division III championship round. Anderson will play Luther in the first game at 2:30 p.m. ET Friday in Eau Claire, Wis.

“I was 0-29 coming in and I've been trying to reach this point in my 30-year career [at Anderson] and trying to get the team here,” sixth-year head coach Tony Holloway said. “If it wasn't for the team, I wouldn't be here [Monday].”

Amy Wuestefeld led the Ravens offense with two hits, two runs and two RBIs, including an inside-the-park home run in the third inning to give Anderson a 3-0 advantage.

Natalie Moorhouse had two hits and a run, including a double, and regional MVP Yardley Collett added a hit and an RBI.

“I'm so happy,” Collett said. “I'm so proud of the team in general … everyone from freshman to seniors pulled us through.”

Katie Lee had a hit and knocked in the first run of the game with a ground ball to second base, scoring Moorhouse. Samantha Steele also had two hits in the game and Megan Ream and Katy Ogden chipped in with a double each.

Devin Moorman earned the victory, allowing four hits and one run in five innings while striking out seven with two walks. Sami Frazier picked up her second save of the season, tossing the final two innings and giving up just one hit while striking out five.

Anderson advanced to the regional by beating Manchester in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference championship. After knocking off top-seeded and No. 2-ranked Trine in the regional opener, the eighth-seeded Ravens lost to Aurora 6-2 before reeling off five consecutive victories to clinch their first regional championship in school history.

After the game, Anderson president James Edwards was on hand to make a special delivery to the six seniors, who missed graduation Saturday. He greeted each player and handed them their diploma before joining the team picture at home plate.
