INDIANAPOLIS -- The NCAA and Northwestern Mutual will team with the American Cancer Society and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) for the fifth annual StrikeOut Cancer Night Presented by Northwestern Mutual. The initiative will take place on Monday, June 3, during Game 1 of the Championship Series of the 2013 NCAA Women's College World Series at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City, Okla. The game will also be televised live at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN2.

"Teaming on an event like StrikeOut Cancer Night is a terrific example of how everyone can come together at an NCAA championship to support a great cause," said Sharon Cessna, NCAA director of championships. "We hope the fans join with NCAA student-athletes, Northwestern Mutual, the American Cancer Society and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association to raise funds to help fight this disease that also affects so many women."

"Northwestern Mutual's support for college athletics and the fight against cancer makes the StrikeOut Cancer Night a natural fit," said Beth Rodenhuis, senior vice president from Northwestern Mutual. "We're excited to support a great cause and give back to a community we serve."

The NCAA will donate one dollar for every ticket sold, with the proceeds directed to the Oklahoma Region of the High Plains Division of the American Cancer Society. Fans are encouraged to wear their American Cancer Society Relay for Life Survivor shirt, or pink attire, to be recognized during the game. This is the fifth year the NCAA has sponsored this event, and the third year it has worked with the NFCA at the Women's College World Series.

"The American Cancer Society appreciates the partnership we have with the NCAA and Northwestern Mutual," said Lesa Foster, Regional Vice President for the American Cancer Society - Oklahoma Region. "We are looking forward to sharing this night with dedicated coaches, amazing athletes and courageous survivors as we strive to 'Strike Out Cancer'. Please join us!"
