No. 4 Texas Woman's falls to No. 24 Angelo State

SAN ANGELO, Texas -- Texas Woman's opened the three-game series at No. 24 Angelo State with an 11-3 loss in six innings Friday night. The loss snapped a 10-game win streak by the Pioneers.

TWU jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top off the first inning but it’s all Angelo State after that. The Rambelles scored three runs in the second, six in the third and one in the fifth and sixth innings.

The Pioneers outhit ASU 11-10 and had runners on base in every innings. TWU left 11 runners on base and allowed four unearned runs on three errors on defense.

Senior Bailey Vrazel went 3-for-4 with run while freshman Katy Stephens was perfect 3-for-3 with a RBI. Senior Brandie Lander started in the circle for the Pioneers and took the first loss of the season. She is now 13-1 on the season.

“It wasn’t our day today,” TWU head coach Genny Stidham said. “We left a lot of runners on the base and did not get the key hits when we needed. Defensively we had costly errors and walked too many people.  We will put this behind us and regroup for the doubleheader tomorrow.”
