Luers-Gillispie records 700th career victory for Central Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Central Florida head coach Renee Luers-Gillispie recorded her 700th-career victory in a 2-0 shutout of Florida Atlantic. The Knights saw junior Farrah Sullivan drive in three runs in the 4-0 win against Yale.

Coach Gillispie has a 701-521-3 overall mark in 23 seasons guiding UCF (13th), Texas Tech (4), Bradley (3) and Julliet (Ill.) Junior College (3). The Knights' leader started the program in 2002 and has amassed a 444-319-1 mark.

Coming off a school-record 16-strikeout performance in the circle vs. Bowling Green on March 9, junior Shelby Turnier tossed her second consecutive one-hit shutout against Florida Atlantic (18-12) to improve to 10-1 on the season. Earning a start after a strong relief outing against Southern Illinois, sophomore Jamie Ujvari notched her first win at UCF. The Pensacola native, who won 20 games a year ago at USC Upstate, fanned four in five frames before freshman Lena Springer came in to earn her first-career save with two punch outs in two frames of work.

Multi-hit games were tallied by juniors outfielder Kahley Novak and third baseman Farrah Sullivan, sophomores designated player Jessica Ujvari and first baseman Samantha McCloskey, freshman outfielder Linnea Goodmanduring the doubleheader as the Knights racked up five doubles and 17 hits.
