INDIANAPOLIS -- In its first dual meet of the 2011-12 season, Wayne State defeated Indianapolis 155-143 on Saturday afternoon.

Andrey Seryy finished in first place and earned “B” qualifiers in the 50 freestyle (20.60) and the 100 freestyle (44.93).  He later led the second-place 200 free relay (1:25.44) and picked up his first “A” cut of the season in the 50 free with a leadoff time of 20.33.

Joaquin Abascal Gallegos won both breaststroke events and eclipsed the “B” standards (58.24, 2:08.19).  He also took first place in the 200 IM (1:57.10).

Other first-place finishers Saturday included Cameron Weaver in the 1000 free (10:07.67), Kristian Larsen in the 200 free (1:46.28) and 500 free (4:52.05), and Jeff Grant in three-meter diving (257.90).

Kyle Taylor placed second to Larsen in both the 200 (1:47.41) and 500 (4:55.22) in his first collegiate meet.
