Virginia's Kolod wins 3-meter springboard to qualify for NCAAs

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. -- Junior Virginia diver JB Kolod won the 3-meter springboard event Monday afternoon at the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center. With the win, Kolod qualifies for the NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championship for the second consecutive year.

Kolod completed the prelims and finals with a combined score of 828.45, including a school-record score of 433.40 in the finals (395.05 in prelims). Sophomore Carl Buergler placed fifth with 708.65 points (326.50 in prelims, 382.15 in finals), while classmate Jordan Sacks was 12th with 640.85 points (315.65 in prelims, 325.20 in finals). Sophomore Colby Shinholser placed 26th with a score of 274.95 points.
