DURHAM, N.C. – Three Duke divers will be competing for spots on their respective national teams during the month of February, with freshman Abby Johnston and incoming freshman Nick McCrory (USA) and freshman Cody Kolodziejzyk (Canada) to represent the University on that stage.

Johnston and McCrory will attend USA Diving’s selection camp at Ohio State from Feb. 8-11 as divers are chosen to represent the United States at three 2009 international competitions – the World Championships, the Canada Cup, and the AT&T USA Diving Grand Prix.

U.S. teams will be announced Thurs., Feb. 12, with only individual events chosen at that time and synchronized teams chosen at a later date.

Kolodziejzyk, a native of Calgary, Alberta, will then participate in the Canadian National Championships Feb. 12-15. One of the country’s top male springboard divers, Kolodziejzyk will compete for a spot on the national squad.

In 2008-09, Johnston has been the Blue Devils’ top women’s diver as she holds Duke’s top performances on both the one- and three-meter boards this season. Her 366.25 on the three-meter and 329.35 on the one-meter are both NCAA Zone qualifying standards. Kolodziejzyk is currently Duke’s top athlete on both boards as well, as he posted a 329.5 on the three-meter and 343.6 on the one-meter – also both NCAA Zone marks.

The squads are in action this weekend with the season’s final two dual meets, tonight at 6 p.m. on the road at No. 14 North Carolina and tomorrow at 11 a.m. at home versus Clemson. The UNC dual is worth a point on both sides in the year-long Carlyle Cup standings, which Carolina currently leads 6.5-2.5 over the Blue Devils. Duke will take part in the ACC Championships on the women’s side from Feb. 18-21 and Feb. 25-28 for the men in College Park, Md.
