Denison, Kenyon race for NCAA qualifying cuts at Kenyon Invitational

GRANVILLE, Ohio -- A number of Denison and Kenyon swimmers competed at the Kenyon Invitational on Saturday. The annual marathon meet consisted of 120 events and lasted seven hours as swimmers from across the country and across NCAA divisions competed for the final time in hopes of qualifying for the NCAA championship in March.

Senior Tully Bradford improved upon her time twice in the 200 freestyle. She won the first race in 1:52.51 and later she won a 200 free time trial in 1:51.91. That is the fourth-fastest time posted by a DU swimmer this year.

In the 200 backstroke, Libby Dalziel posted a season-best 'B' cut time of 2:02.38. That time was nearly a second faster than her previous best time. Teammate Lucy Roth came in second and improved her provisional qualifying time, touching in 2:05.17.

In the 100 freestyle, Bradford would also improve her standing in the event with a new season-best time of 51.96. Michelle Howell swam the 100 fly for the first time and posted a 'B' cut in 57.07.
