ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla.The #4 Armstrong Atlantic mens tennis team blanked Nebraska-Kearney 5-0 in the opening round of the NCAA Division II National Championships. In their 11th NCAA appearance, the Pirates (21-6) swept the doubles matches before downing the Lopers (15-5) at the third and sixth singles positions.

Earning the first point of the match for the Pirates, Dale White and Robert Jendelund, the eighth-ranked duo in the country, defeated William Jacome and Jorge Ramos by the score of 8-3. Picking up the next point of the match, Jeremy Mastnak and Taavo Roos battled out an 8-6 victory over Nate Weigand and Cory Ciccone. Finishing the doubles sweep at the No. 2 position, Davor Zink and Peter Dedik took down Tyson Thomas and Andres Espinosa by the score of 8-3.

Needing just two more points to clinch their trip to the quarterfinals, the Pirates quickly tallied their fourth points after Secker downed Thomas at the sixth spot by the score of 6-1, 6-0. Clinching the match for Armstrong Atlantic, Dedik swept past Weigand 6-0, 6-0 at the third singles position.

The Pirates will tangle with #21 UC-San Diego tomorrow in a 10 a.m. quarterfinal match-up at Sanlando Park.
