#11 Ouachita Baptist 5, #2 Barry 3

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla.-The #11 Ouachita Baptist men's tennis team upset #2 Barry today by the score of 5-3 in the NCAA Division II National Quarterfinals. The Tigers (19-6) took two-of-three doubles matches from the Buccaneers (22-2) before winning three singles matches to advance to the national semifinals tomorrow.

Notching the Tigers first point of the match, Alejandro Chong and Joan Costa pushed past Victor Rodriguez and Alex Praderas by the score of 8-2 at the third doubles position. Tying up the match, the sixth-ranked duo of Thomas Hipp and Patrick Rittenauer got past 18th-ranked Emilien Rabin and Vagen Akapian 8-5 at the top spot to run their record to 12-0. Unknotting the score, Jakub Smid and Ondrej Vana took down Sebastian Losavio and Manuel Lauter 8-5 at the second position.

Ahead 2-1 heading into the singles action, the Tigers picked up a win at the top position as Emilien Rabin knocked off Losavio, the 11th-ranked singles player in the nation, by the score of 6-0, 6-3. Extending their lead, Ouachita Baptist's Pintaluba put together a 6-1, 6-4 win over Lauter at the fifth spot. Battling back, the Buccaneers tallied wins at the second and third positions as 17th-ranked Hipp took down Akapian 6-3, 6-4 and 41st-ranked Rittenauer downed Smid 6-4, 6-3. Needing just one point for victory, Costa battled out a 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 over Praderas, clinching the victory.

In the semifinal match, the Tigers will face the winner of the #9 North Florida/#20 BYU-Hawai'i quarterfinal action.
