ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. - The fourth-ranked Barry University Buccaneers' men's tennis team defeated 10th -ranked Concordia (NY) 5-0, Friday afternoon in semifinal action of the 2010 Men's Tennis National Championships, from the Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla.

The win secures the Buccaneers a spot in the NCAA finals, while Concordia (NY) is eliminated from tournament play.

After prevailing in an epic battle with national powerhouse Armstrong Atlantic in yesterday's quarterfinals, the Buccaneers once again proved why they are one of the best in the country, beginning the day with a doubles sweep of the Clippers.

The No. 3 doubles tandem of Andrew Sharnov and Sergio Velez opened the scoring for the Bucs with an 8-6 win over Dobrotka and Lindell. Shortly after, Barry tabulated their second and third points of the match with a pair of 8-6 wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 position. Ales Svigelj and Max Wimmer posted the win at the No. 1 spot, while Emanuel Fraitzl and Marco Mokrzycki earned the win at No. 2.

On the singles side, Fraitzl and Wimmer tallied both of the wins for Barry. Fraitzl took down Missal by the scores of 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 singles, before Wimmer defeated Namias by the same score at No. 4.

With Barry securing the necessary five points, the remaining contests went unfinished.

The win puts Barry into the NCAA Championship Final where they will take top-ranked Valdosta State on Saturday, May 15. First serve for the national title is set for 9:00 a.m. at the Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
