JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- No. 3-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State knocked off Division I foe North Florida 5-2 on Tuesday afternoon at the UNF Tennis Complex in Jacksonville, Fla.

The Pirates (8-0) downed the No. 72-ranked Ospreys (5-3) by taking the doubles point and winning four of six singles matches. It was the first time that the Pirates have taken on a Division I foe since March 8, 2005, when Armstrong won a 5-2 decision over Campbell.

The top-ranked Division II doubles duo of Rafael Array and Mikk Irdoja earned an 8-3 win against Mortiz Buerchner and Beauregard Treyz at No. 1 doubles, while the eighth-ranked duo of Eudaldo Bonet and Daniel Regan collected a 9-7 win against Pedro Davisson and Leonardo Nahar at No. 3 doubles to earn the doubles point. North Florida's duo of Hieb Maslau and Daniel Sotomarino claimed an 8-4 win against No. 20-ranked Matus Mydla and Pedro Scocuglia at No. 2 doubles.

Armstrong clinched the match with wins at the No. 3-5 singles slots against the Ospreys. No. 30-ranked Mydla beat Treyz, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 4 singles, then No. 21-ranked Regan claimed a 7-5, 6-2 win against Nahar at No. 5 singles. No. 13-ranked Array then clinched with a 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 (1) win over Maslau at No. 3 singles.

No. 2-ranked Bonet added another point for the Pirates with a grueling 4-6, 7-6 (3), 7-5 win against Buerchner at No. 1 singles. UNF's singles points came at No. 2, where Sotomarino beat No. 4-ranked Irdoja, 7-5, 6-2, and at No. 6, where Davisson beat Scocuglia, 6-1, 6-2.
