FLUSHING MEADOWS, N.Y. – Junior Michael Capozzi earned a pair of wins to become the first Valiant in program history to reach 100 career victories as Manhattanville dealt Hunter College its first defeat of the season 7-2 on Friday at the U.S. National Tennis Center.

With two wins against the Bearcats, Capozzi now boasts a 51-10 (.836) singles record and a 50-16 (.758) doubles mark. Already the school's all-time singles wins leader in less than three full seasons, he also ranks second behind senior Julian Oribe (59 wins) on the school's career doubles ledger.

Capozzi was one of four double winners for Manhattanville on the afternoon.

He and freshman Gabriel Pinto earned the Valiants' first point and the junior's 100th career victory with an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles against Stephan Muller and Bryan Adler. Capozzi capped his day with a hard-fought 6-2, 5-7, 1-0 (10-8) win against Christopher Jenkins at No. 1 singles for career win No. 101.

Pinto, senior Chris Lin and sophomore Andres Rivera also won a pair of matches each for the Valiants.

After teaming with Capozzi for a doubles victory, Pinto made quick work of Adler at No. 4 singles, winning by a 6-0, 6-1 score. Rivera and Lin started their day with an 8-2 doubles win against Alaiksei Misitau and Damon Ye at the No. 3 slot, before defeating the pair in singles play. Rivera downed Misitau 6-4, 6-3, at No. 5 singles, while Lin took down Ye at the No. 6 slot 6-2, 6-2.

The Valiants earned their seventh point of the day when Muller retired before his No. 2 singles matchup with junior Dean Tahir.
