Grinnell College

GRINNELL, Iowa – Juan Carlos Perez reached a rare milestone Friday by earning his 200th career victory for Grinnell College during the Midwest Conference Championships in Madison, Wis.

The Quito, Ecuador, native achieved the mark when he and Dmitriy Glumov won their No. 1 doubles match in a dual semifinal victory against Carroll University. Perez earned wins 201 and 202 in the team title match against Monmouth, as he and Glumov again won at doubles to go along with a win at No. 1 singles.

Perez, already Grinnell’s career leader in singles victories, is one of only a handful of Division III players to have reached 200 wins.

At 29-2, Perez has set the school record for victories in a season, and he and Glumov have compiled a 27-3 doubles record.

Perez will be shooting for another milestone as the weekend continues. He is looking to become the first player in MWC history to win a maximum 12 MWC men’s career titles, which would be four in singles, four in doubles and four in the team competition.
