BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Lynn defeated Division I Georgetown with ease 5-1 on Tuesday. Luca Pavanelli and Amaury Van Haelen provided points for the Fighting Knights in both singles and doubles.

The Blue & White started slowly in doubles competition with each position neck-and-neck with the Hoyas through the first five sets on the first and second courts. Alessio Iannozzi and Pavanelli were the first to finish at No. 3, winning 8-2 after taking seven of the final eight points. 

Trailing 3-2, the duo of Vlad Cirla and Willi Wolfer broke serve and began to pull away at 7-4. Wolfer then notched back-to-back aces and ended the match with a brilliant forehand that split the two Hoyas  Max Kouyate and Van Haelen were the last to finish while managing an 8-5 victory at the second spot.

Van Haelen was much more efficient in singles play, defeating Casey Distaso in straight sets 6-1, 6-2 to earn his team-leading ninth victory of the year. Pavanelli bogged down Shane Korber 6-3 in the opening set before winning 6-2 in the second set.

Georgetown’s (7-4) lone point came on the fourth court where Max Kouyate retired due to injury. Alessio Ianazzi was leading 6-1, 5-2 before the match was halted while Willi Wolfer and Vlad Cirla were destined for third sets after splitting the first two sets.
