PENSACOLA, Fla. -- No. 7-ranked West Florida (13-2) blanked No. 14 Georgia College & State (5-7) 9-0 Tuesday at the Ralph “Skeeter” Carson Tennis Complex in Pensacola. West Florida has won its last four matches.

West Florida swept doubles. At the No. 1 position, Argonauts Bruno Savi and Kevin Ducros defeated No. 14-ranked Jerome Leborgne and Johan Wadstein 8-3. The UWF doubles tandem of Leandro Ferreira and Andrey Pozhidaev recorded an 8-2 victory against Tyler Franks and Kasper Konyves at the No. 2 line. Mike Lue and Domenico Sano tallied an 8-3 victory against Wictor Andersson and Leo Bernardes at No. 3.

The Argos won all but one singles match in straight sets. At the No. 1 position, Pozhidaev, who is ranked No. 19 nationally in singles, defeated No. 13 Leborgn, 6-0, 6-2. No. 16 Ferreira needed a super tiebreaker to defeat Wadstein 6-1, 5-7, 10-6 at No. 2. West Florida freshman Elio Latela defeated Bernardes 6-2, 6-3, at the No. 3 line. Sano defeated Konyves 6-1, 6-4, at No. 4. Lue tallied a 6-3, 6-2 victory against Alexander Schubert at No. 5. UWF senior Sean Gunnels dropped just one game in his 6-0, 6-1 victory against Franks at the No.6 spot.
