PENSACOLA Fla. -- Second-ranked West Florida (19-2, 6-0 GSC) won its 10th consecutive match on Saturday afternoon as the Argos defeated No. 15 St. Edward’s 8-1. The victory was the Argos’ third win in three days and their 13th against a ranked opponent this season.

West Florida won all three doubles matches. At the No. 1 line, the No. 2-ranked duo of Kevin Ducros and Bruno Savi defeated Ned Boone and Eduardo Bencke 8-6. No. 17 Leandro Ferreira and Andrey Pozhidaev defeated Pedro Bronstrup and James Rogers 8-4, at No. 2.

Argonauts Mike Lue and Domenico Sano recorded an 8-4 victory against Jonathan Stockdale and Adrian Garza at No. 3 wrap up the sweep of doubles action for West Florida.

UWF won five of the six singles matches. At No. 1, Savi, who is ranked No. 12 nationally in singles, defeated No. 30 Boone 6-4, 4-6, 10-8. Ninth-ranked Ducros tallied a 6-0, 7-6 victory against Bencke at No. 2. No. 21 Pozhidaev defeated Rogers 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3.

West Florida freshman Elio Latela recorded a 6-0, 6-2 victory against Ryan Wiggins at the No. 5 spot. Sano beat Garza 6-2, 6-0 at No. 6. The Hilltoppers’ only victory of the day came at the No. 4 singles line, where Bronstrup needed a super tiebreaker to defeat Ferreira 7-6, 2-6, 10-8.
