VALDOSTA, Ga. -- After seeing its five-match winning streak to start the season snapped in a 5-4 loss to No. 4 Barry, No. 2 West Florida came back to defeat No. 3 Lynn 5-4 on Saturday and No. 6 Rollins 8-1 on Sunday.

UWF (7-1) handed Lynn (9-1) its first loss of the season. The Argonauts took two points in doubles with a win at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots. Tony Rajaobelina and Domenico Sano won 8-3 at No. 2 and Elio Latela and Felipe Frattini won 8-1 at No. 3.

In singles, No. 13 Kevin Ducros defeated No. 4 Willie Wolfer, who retired down 5-0 at the No. 1 line. Wolfer was the No.1 player in the South Region while Ducros came into the match ranked No. 5. At No. 2 singles, No. 5 Bruno Savi defeated No. 17 Vlad Circla 6-4, 6-1. Savi was ranked No. 2 in the region while Circla was ranked No. 7.

In addition, Elio Latela upset No. 28 Alessio Ianozzi 6-4, 7-6 at No. 4. Latela ranked No. 15 in the region while Ianozzi ranked No. 9.

Against Rollins (3-4), the Argos rolled to an 8-1 victory. UWF’s only loss came at No. 5 singles when Guilherme Canineo fell 6-2, 6-7, 1-0.

Savi extended his winning streak to 25 matches dating back to last season with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles. Latela extended his winning streak to 14 wins dating back to last season with a 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 victory at No. 3 singles against No. 36 Malte Christesen. Christesen was ranked No. 13 in the region, two spots higher than Latela.
