Emory's Kahler, Wagner advance to doubles semis with three-set win
KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Emory doubles team of senior Elliot Kahler and sophomore Ian Wagner continued their run in the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Doubles Championship on Friday, posting a quarterfinal round victory at Kalamazoo College.
The duo raised their season record to 22-7 after earning their consecutive come-from-behind win in the tournament on Friday with a 0-6, 6-1, 6-1, decision against the Texas-Tyler tandem of Daniel Brown and Ryan Ybarra.
With their victory on Friday, Kahler and Wagner, who have captured All-America honors by virtue of their effort at the championships, move into the semifinals on Saturday where they will battle the No. 1-seeded team of Nicholas Ballou and Raymond Worley of Cal Lutheran.
Ballou and Worley, 26-2 on the season, advanced following their quarterfinal-round triumph against Amrik Donkena and Mya Smith-Dennis. The semis are scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. ET and will be followed by the championship match.
