
LA JOLLA, Calif. -- Barry beat No. 10 Fresno Pacific 8-1 on Thursday at UC San Diego in a neutral-site match.
The No. 1 Buccaneers (11-0) changed up their lineup after struggling for a 5-4 win in their toughest battle of the season a day earlier.
Barry coach George Samuel inserted Ollie Lemaitre into the No. 1 doubles slot, pairing him together with Ahmed Triki, and moved Fabian Groetsch to No. 3 doubles to play with Renato Lombardi. Lemaitre was the lift the No. 1 doubles flight needed on this day as he and Triki beat Michael Tmykiw and Thomas Gely 8-5.
Groetsch and Lombardi defeated Leonardo Urquidi and Brendan Aguilar 8-5 at No. 3. Romain Costamagna and Leo Vivas beat Kyle Rowe and Stefan Loop 8-4 at No. 2 to give the Buccaneers a sweep in doubles play.
At No. 1 singles, Triki bounced back from a straight-sets loss on Wednesday to win a third-set super tiebreaker battle with Tymkiw 6-3, 6-7 (6-8), 10-8. Gely got the best of Costamagna, who was moved up to No. 2 singles, in another long match 6-3, 6-7 (4-7), 10-4.
Groetsch, ranked No. 12 in singles, defeated Rowe 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3, who was bumped down to No. 3. Vivas, the 37th-ranked singles player in the country, defeated Aguilar in the third match that went to a super tiebreaker 6-4, 1-6, 10-6.
Lombardi defeated Urquidi 6-3, 7-6 (9-7) at No. 5 singles. Kevin Sielmann, ranked No. 41 in singles, was an easy 6-1, 6-0, winner against Loop at No. 6.
