No. 12 Baylor sweeps sixth-ranked Illinois in Oracle Collegiate Challenge

INDIAN WELLS, Calif. -- Baylor (11-4) recorded a 4-0 victory against Illinois (11-3) on Sunday in the Oracle Collegiate Challenge at the BNP Paribas Open.

The teams started the match with singles play, instead of the traditional three doubles matches.

Baylor’s 97th-ranked Tony Lupieri got off to a quick start winning the first five games against Alex Jesse, before closing out the match 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 5 spot.

The 104th-ranked Michel Dornbusch was the next Baylor competitor to secure a win on court No. 4. After falling behind in the first set 5-4, Dornbusch fought back to win the final nine games of the match to card a 7-5, 6-0 victory versus Ross Guignon.

The 15th-ranked Patrick Pradella put Baylor up 3-0 with his 6-4, 6-3 win on court No. 2 against 42nd-ranked Tim Kopinski, before No. 8 Julian Lenz clinched the match point for the Bears on court No. 1 with a 6-1, 7-6 (5) victory against No. 17 Farris Gosea.
