Fresno Pacific overcomes slow start, beats Holy Names

FRESNO, Calif. -- Fresno Pacific overcame a sluggish start in its fifth match in seven days to earn win No. 12 on the season, 6-3 against Holy Names.

The 10th-ranked Sunbirds fell behind 2-1 heading into singles, earning their only win at the No. 3 spot where Michael Tymkiw and Stefan Loop scored an 8-5 win.

In singles Fresno Pacific was dominant for the second time this season against the Hawks, winning five of six matches. Brendan Aguilar cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 straight-set win against Matthew Halligan at the No. 4 spot. Aguilar moved to 14-2 on the season to lead the team in wins.

Michael Tymkiw, Thomas Gely, Stefan Loop and Leonardo Urquidi also picked up wins as the Sunbirds won their second consecutive match versus a regionally ranked opponent.
