Columbus State 5, North Florida 3

COLUMBUS, GA. -- Columbus State for the second straight year advanced to Nationals with a 5-3 win over North Florida at the Blackmon Tennis Center. CSU took two of three doubles matches with Marianne Berry and Suzanne Visagie winning 8-6 in a grueling match over Katja Brandt and Vanessa Sanchez at #3 doubles. As predicted, CSU's Diana Gherghi and Zuzana Valekova won their #1 doubles match in a convincing 8-0 defeat over Julie Stoppelli and Liliana Hung. UNF's Zhenya Barysheva and Melanie Eng beat Agata Polcyn and Raluca Moldvan 8-3 in #2 doubles.

Gherghi also dominated her singles match with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Barysheva. CSU also picked up wins at #2 and #5 singles with Visagie and Moldovan each winning their match. The match ended with Moldovan defeating Stoppelli at #5 singles 6-3, 7-6. The two wins for UNF in singles were Sanchez defeating Polcyn 6-1, 6-3 and Robin Rogers winning against Berry 6-4, 6-1.

"The #3 doubles match was huge, we're down 4-1 and somehow we find a way a win, said CSU Head Coach Evan Isaacs".

Columbus State will now face Northwest Missouri State on Wedneday, May 11th in Altamonte Springs, FL in the first round of the Division II National Championship.
