The Queens College Knights Women's Tennis Team is on their way to the Sweet Sixteen after beating Southern New Hampshire University, 5-0, in the finals of the Division II East Region #2. This will be the program's second trip to the championships, the first coming in 1995.

The finals will be held in Altamonte Springs, Florida, hosted by the Central Florida Sports Commission and Rollins College, May 12-15.

QC's first round opponent will be Northwood (MI) on May 12th.

The day began with QC sweeping all three of the doubles matches. Laura Mocodeanu and Maria Mendes got the Knights off to a fine start with a 8-1 win over SNHU's Catalina Echeverry and Alison Waring at second doubles and the pairing of Taylor Barber and Daniela Celi kept the ball rolling by winning 8-2 at third doubles. First doubles proved to be a costly loss for Southern New Hampshire as Amber Chandronnait suffered a hamstring injury during a 8-4 loss to Somadi Druker and Erika Goldsmith that forced her out of the singles competition.

With SNHU forced to move everybody up a spot and to insert Jennifer Zastrow into the line-up at the six spot, Goldsmith moved the Knights to within one point of the Sweet Sixteen when she upended Alison Waring 6-0, 6-0 in third singles. Mocodeanu and Celi then wrapped up the Regional Championship for Queens College with simultaneous victories at the one and six spots.
