The No.4-ranked Lynn University women's tennis team defeated Slippery Rock 5-0, Thursday morning in quarterfinal action of the 2010 Women's Tennis National Championships, from the Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla.

The win secures Lynn a spot in the semifinals.

Lynn controlled the tempo of the match from the first serve, as they swept through doubles action to take a commanding 3-0 lead. Leading the charge was the No. 1 team of Magdelena Ekert and Katerina Jiskrova as they opened the morning match with an 8-2 victory over the Rock duo of Handy and Drmac. Tessie Salame and Jessica Yanoff added to the lead with an 8-3 victory over Gibson and Hilborn in the No. 2 slot, while Eleonara Iannozzi and Christine Johnstone capped the perfect doubles segment with a notable 8-1 win over Lynch and Krantz.

On the singles side, Yanoff breezed her way to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles and Ekert matched her teammates performance with straight sets sweep of her own in the No. 2 position.

The win advances Lynn to their 13th NCAA Semifinal appearance in the last 14 years.

Lynn will take on the winner of BYU-Hawaii and Northwood (MI) on Friday, May 14 in NCAA Semifinals action. First serve is set for 9:00 a.m. at the Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
