ATHENS, Ga. ----- The third-seeded University of Florida women's tennis team secured its place in the 2010 NCAA semifinals with Saturday afternoon's 4-0 shutout over 11th-seeded Miami at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

Florida cruised in doubles to post an early 1-0 lead. First of in doubles was court two as the 29th-ranked pair of Lauren Embree and Joanna Mather rolled past No. 36 Anna Bartenstein and Biaca Eichkorn of Miami, 8-3. The Gators added a win at three to finish it out as Caroline Hitimana and Anastasia Revzina downed Danielle Mills and Claudia Wasilewski by the same 8-3 margin.

Heading to singles, the Gators continued to roll as court one quickly ended with a 6-4, 6-2 win for ninth-ranked Embree over No. 7 Laura Vallverdu. The score increased to 3-0 as Mather defeated No. 113 Gabriela Mejia, 6-4, 6-2, on five. The clincher was posted on four as No. 102 Revzina downed No. 65 Mills in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 to give UF the 4-0 victory.

Miami Head Coach Paige Yaroshuk-Tews:
"We're disappointed, but they are the better team and they made some big shots. I'm very proud of this team. They overachieved this year. They got better as the year went along and showed a lot of heart."

Florida Head Coach Roland Thornqvist:
"Today was a little bit of a great relief. It was one of the toughest matches of the year and Miami is a tough team. We played well in doubles, but through it all we found a way to answer anything Miami had. To do well here is far beyond forehands and backhands. It's about heart."
