Southern N.H. tops Chestnut Hill
Penmens’ Vamvakitis toughs out victory at No. 3 singles
MANCHESTER, N.H. -- Southern New Hampshire posted a 6-3 victory against Chestnut Hill on Saturday afternoon.
The Penmen, who snapped a two-match slide with the win, improved to 8-4, while the Griffins saw a three-match win streak snapped and fell to 16-4.
Diana Vamvakitis rallied at No. 3 singles to top Maria Parapouras, dropping the first set 6-2 before posting a 7-3 tiebreaker win in the second set. In the third set Vamvakitis prevailed 6-1.
Alena Mukdaprakorn was a 6-0, 6-4 winner at No. 1 singles, while Samantha Jean and Kirsten Jean were victorious at fifth and sixth singles, respectively.
In doubles action, Vamvakitis and Jamie Hann were 8-6 winners at No. 2, while the Jean sisters recorded an 8-2 victory at No. 3.
