SAN ANTONIO -- Trinity (Texas) won a consecutive Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championship with an 8-1 win against Southwestern (Texas) on Sunday.

Trinity swept the doubles matches to start the title match on Saturday evening as the two teams attempted to finish off the championship match before rain hit the San Antonio area. The Tigers led 4-0 when play was suspended until Sunday.

Gabrielle Roe clinched the match at No. 3 singles for the Tigers, winning 6-2, 6-1 to make it 5-0 at the time. Roe improved her singles record to a team-best 12-9 this season.

Thavindra Ekanayake won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and teamed with Kylie Hornbeck for an 8-1 win at the top line of doubles as well. Hornbeck lost a hard-fought 6-7 (7-10), 6-3, 7-10 match at No. 2 singles for Southwestern's lone team point of the match.

Caroline White and Kathleen Lundquist won 8-5 at No. 2 doubles, while Kristy Hamilton and Stephanie Williamson took an 8-2 win at No. 3. Hamilton (6-0, 6-1), Williamson (6-1, 6-3) and Lundquist (6-3, 6-0) all earned singles points for the Tigers as well.
