Lynn shuts down Florida Southern

LAKELAND, Fla. -- Lynn defeated No. 11 Florida Southern 6-3 in a Sunshine State Conference matchup Thursday afternoon. The Fighting Knights improve to 7-0 on the season and 4-0 in SSC play.

Florida Southern No. 3 doubles team of Joalis Dominguez and Laura Wichmann took down Lynn’s Alex Vukadinovic and Kim Przeszlowski 8-2 to open the match. The Blue & White quickly answered back with an 8-4 victory by Rosalie Willig and Andrea Berkova at the No. 2 spot. No. 5 Valentine Confalonieri and Ioana Ivan battled, but came out on top against the Moc’s Magda Riutort and Sabine Goge 9-7 to put Lynn ahead 2-1 after doubles.

Alina Jane gave the Blue & White a 3-1 lead with a 6-1, 6-0 win at the No. 5 singles spot before No. 11 Ioana Ivan’s defeated Joalis Dominguez 6-1, 6-2 at the second slot for Lynn to be one point away from clinching the win. No. 1 Valentine Confalonieri defeated Magda Riutort 6-1, 6-2 to claim the overall win at the No. 1 spot.

No. 21 Andrea Berkova was the fourth to finish, overcoming Olivia Spangnuolo 6-4, 6-4 at the No. 4 spot.

Kim Przeszlowsk and Rosalie Willig scrapped it out with the Moc’s at the two and six spots but were both forced into a third set. Florida Southern came out on top, in both matches giving FSC three points overall.
