
SAVANNAH, Ga. -- No. 1 Armstrong Atlantic State handed No. 4 Lynn its first loss of the season Friday, 6-3 at Bacon Park.
The win extends Armstrong's home unbeaten streak to 130 matches dating back to 2003, as the Pirates improve to 11-1 on the season. Lynn's first setback of the season drops its record to 15-1.
Armstrong took two of three doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead heading into singles play. The No. 6-ranked doubles duo of Marlen Hacke and Olga Kalodzitsa downed Andrea Berkova and Rosalie Willig, 8-5, at No. 2 doubles, while Carolina Prats-Millan and Clara Perez blanked Alina Jane and Kim Przeszlowski, 8-0, at No. 3 doubles. Lynn's doubles point came at No. 1 doubles as the fifth-ranked duo of Vale Confalonieri and Ioana Ivan upended the second-seeded duo of Aleksandra Filipovski and Barbora Krtickova, 8-4, at No. 1 doubles.
The Pirates won four of six singles matches to clinch the victory. Prats-Millan beat No. 21-ranked Berkova, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 4 singles, while No. 6-ranked Perez downed Jane, 6-1, 4-6, 6-0, at No. 5 singles. No. 24-ranked Kalodzitsa knocked off Przeszlowski, 7-5, 6-2, at No. 6 singles to clinch the match, then No. 15-ranked Krtickova won a third-set 10-point tiebreaker to down Willig, 7-6 (5), 5-7, (11-9) at No. 2 singles.
Lynn's points in singles came at No. 1 singles, where top-ranked Confalonieri beat No. 3-ranked Filipovski, 3-6, 6-0, 6-3, and at No. 3 singles, where No. 11-ranked Ivan beat No. 16-ranked Hacke, 7-6 (6), 6-2.
