No. 4 Hawaii Pacific ends trip by beating Rollins

WINTER PARK, Fla. -- After hitting a rough patch on the road against some of the best teams in the country, Hawaii Pacific responded with a 7-2 win against No. 9 Rollins.

The Sea Warriors, although road-weary, jumped on the Tars early. The doubles team of Vivian Hansen and Lea Kruse-Utermann steamrolled the competition at third doubles 8-2. Lorena Gheorghe and Magdalena Smejova then hung an 8-4 defeat on the home team at second doubles. Karen Ramirez and Celina Goetti needed a little bonus tennis, but prevailed 9-7 at first doubles.

Gheorghe and Hansen were both steady in the middle of HPU's singles lineup, each earning a straight-set win. Seniors Goetti and Carrie Shuler each dropped the first set of their matches, but had the experience and guile to mount a comeback.

The Sea Warriors haven't had a home match since March 9, playing the past eight matches on the road.
