No. 2 Armstrong Atlantic shuts out GRU-Augusta

SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Armstrong Atlantic extended a pair of streaks with Monday afternoon's 9-0 Peach Belt Conference victory against GRU-Augusta at Bacon Park.

The Pirates (16-1, 9-0 PBC) extended their current home unbeaten streak to 132 matches, dating back to 2003, while also extending their current regular-season Peach Belt Conference winning streak to 119 matches, which also dates back to the 2003 season. GRU Augusta falls to 10-7 overall and 4-5 in the PBC with the loss.

Armstrong dropped just two games in sweeping all three doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead heading into singles play. The No. 2-ranked duo of Aleksandra Filipovski and Barbora Krtickova downed Aida Castany and Marie Vin 8-0 at No. 1 doubles, while Clara Perez and Carolina Prats-Millan beat Julie Fontaine and Roberta Oliveira 8-2 at No. 2 doubles. Dora Andrejszki and Olga Kalodzitsa finished off the doubles sweep with an 8-0 win versus Gisela Font and Maria C. Pimentel at No. 3 doubles.

The Pirates then notched straight-set wins in all six singles matches to clinch the victory. No. 3-ranked Filipovski downed Castany 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, while No. 11-ranked Krtickova bested Oliveira 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. No. 19-ranked Prats-Millan blanked Font 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles and No. 42-ranked Perez downed Pimentel 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.

Kalodzitsa shut out Fontaine 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles for the Pirates, with Andrejszki also picking up a 6-0, 6-0 win versus Maria Nadal at No. 6 singles.
