OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. -- NYIT reached its 20th win of the season with a 9-0 sweep of Stonehill on Sunday afternoon at the Tennis Complex. The Bears are now 20-5 on the season and the Skyhawks dropped to 15-5 overall.
NYIT gained a 3-0 lead in doubles and then reached match point on a 6-0, 6-0 sweep by Justyna Krol at second doubles. No. 21 Sara Burinato and Alexandra Borgenhoff then finished their matches at No. 1 and No. 5 singles, respectively, to clinch the victory. Burinato defeated Bailey Paradiso 6-0, 6-2 at first singles and Borgenhoff went 6-1, 6-0 against Lorraine Smith at fifth singles.
In all, the Bears surrendered just six points in singles play.
