Williams Athletics | April 6, 2014 No. 2 Williams returns to play with win vs. No. 8 Middlebury Share MIDDLEBURY, Vt. -- Williams returned to conference play on Sunday, facing Middlebury after an undefeated West Coast spring break trip. The Ephs extended their perfect record to 12-0, winning, 7-2. The Ephs are now 12-0 overall and 2-0 in NESCAC, while Middlebury fell to 6-3 overall and 1-1 in NESCAC play. Williams got out to an early lead, winning two out of the three doubles matches. The top two pairs played with a confidence that has been the story throughout this season. Kara Shoemaker/Rebecca Curran took their match 8-4, while Maria Pylypiv/Kathleen Elkins won 8-1. The top two Ephs players faced tough competition, with both matches needing three sets to decide a winner. Despite losing her first set 3-6, Shoemaker rebounded to win the next two 6-3, 6-2. Elkins was on the other end, losing 7-6(4), 3-6, 6-1. Other Eph singles winners were Linda Shin, Pylypiv, Curran and Monica Pastor.
