GREENSBORO, N.C. – Florida State’s Charles Clark has been chosen as the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Indoor Track & Field Performer of the Week, while Miami’s Murielle Ahoure has been selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Indoor Track & Field Performer of the Week.

Clark, a Seminole junior from Virginia Beach, Va., opened his 2009 season at the Armory Track and Field Center in New York City with an automatic qualifying time in the 200m of 20.83 seconds.  The Florida State sprinter posted the nation’s fastest time on a banked track and the second fastest time overall this season.  The time is only 33-one hundredths of a second off of Clark’s league best time from last season.

Ahoure, a senior for the Hurricanes from Bristow, Va., added automatic qualification in the 200m over the weekend to go along with her 60m entry.  Ahoure is the only ACC student-athlete, male or female to qualify automatically in two events so far this season.  The Hurricane sprinter clocked in at 23.26 in the 200m which is the fastest in the league in2009 and second fastest in Miami history.  She also scored another automatic qualification in the 60m with a winning time of 7.21 seconds.  Ahoure earns her second ACC weekly honor this season with the performance.

Both Miami and Florida State will conclude their pre-ACC Championship preparations this weekend.  Miami will head west to Texas A&M while Florida State will send split squads to the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. and to the Husky Classic in Seattle, Wash.
