Lockhart posts two wins as Lakers take 11 titles

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. -- No. 1 Grand Valley State defeated Saginaw Valley State by 42 points in a dual meet. The Lakers recorded 11 first-place finishes and were lead by sophomore Sam Lockhart's two title wins.
In the 60-meter hurdles, freshman Kalena Franklin claimed first as she cleared the hurdles with a time of 9.01 seconds, followed by Jade Hull in second (9.10) and Amber Triner in third (9.14). Brittany Jackson crossed the finish line first in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.76 seconds, followed by Brooke Horne in second (7.96) and Serena Black in third (8.05).
Lisa Galasso earned first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.10 seconds, while Emma Breen finished third (1:03.40). In the 800-meter run, Madie Rodts placed second (2:16.97), while Danielle Tepper crossed third (2:19.58). Autumn Lantz earned the Lakers five points in the 200-meter dash with a first place finish (26.31), while Black placed second and Chelsea Heyne third.
In the mile run, Amanda Whowell notched first with a time of 5:10.26, while Kelly Crowley placed third (5:17.87). Theresa Wolter crossed the finish line third in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:48.16, while teammate Kelsey Young placed fourth (10:48.70).
In the field events, Alisha Weaver finished first in the high jump with a provisional mark of 5-6, followed by Aubree Suor tied for second (5-4 1/4). Suor also earned a first in the long jump with a mark of 17-1 1/2, while Aileen Lemanski finished third (16-6). Jocelyn Kuksa improved on her pervious provisional mark in the pole vault with a first-place finish of 12-9 1/2, while teammate Kristen Hixson placed second with a provisional mark of 12-3 1/2.
Lockhart claimed a first place in the shot put with a distance of 48-11, followed by Katelyn Fox in second (38-4). Lockhart also earned a first in the weight throw with a toss of 57-5 1/2, while Jamie Smith finished second with a provisional mark of 57-0 1/2 and Katelyn Fox in third (50-10 3/4).
