Records fell and Big 12 teams dominated the NCAA Midwest Regional Track and Field Championships Saturday as the Texas women and Nebraska men captured team titles.

Texas defeated Nebraska 75-65.5 with the Longhorns taking victory in the womens 4x100 meter relay (43.50) and 4x400 meter relay (3:29.03). UT sophomore Marshevet Hooker, anchor for the 4x100 relay, also won the 100-meter dash in a John Jacobs Track facility record 11.13 seconds. It was Hookers third appearance on the awards podium after winning Fridays long jump competition with a meet record 21-2 effort.

The Nebraska men outpaced Big 12 champions Texas Tech 92.5-85.5. The Cornhuskers took the 4x100 relay in a meet record 39.19 and added another victory with sophomore Dmitrijs Mikelvices 1:46.48 winning run in the 800 meters. The Husker middle distance specialist beat Kansas senior Jeremy Mims and Big 12 champion Jonathon Johnson of Texas Tech.

Two-time NCAA Indoor 60-meter champion DaBryan Blanton of Oklahoma won the mens 100-meter dash. For Blanton, it was a welcome change from the 2004 regional meet when he was forced to scratch because of an injury.

The meets final race, the 4x400 relay, provided the most excitement as Baylors anchor, Darold Williamson, who captured the 400 title (44.76) earlier in the day, made up a 10-meter deficit over the final lap to pass Texas Techs Terry Beard with less than 50 meters to go. The same two relays had finished one-two at the Big 12 Championship two weeks ago, again with Williamson bypassing the Red Raiders anchor leg down the home stretch.
