In 2012, Colby's Dominique Kone won his second national championship in track and field. Kone finished 0.20 seconds faster than the rest of the field with a time of 10.24 in the 100-meter dash at last year's outdoor championships.
As a sophomore at McMurry, Paul Davis captured an NCAA title in shot put with a throw of 18.55 meters. To start 2013, Davis was a triple winner at the War Hawk Classic, winning shot put (60' 9 1/2"), hammer throw (140' 9 1/2") and discus (170' 0").

In just his first collegiate season, Mike Sandle garnered the nation's top honors in triple jump at the NCAA outdoor championships. Sandle had a final jump of 15.60 meters to top the competition by 0.13 meters. He also won the indoor title in March.
With a javelin throw of 67.19 meters, Tim Van Liew became the first Rutgers-Camden individual national champion in school history in 2012. He eked past 2011 defending champion Gary Zack of Moravian by two inches.
