MIT replaces Stevens to host Div. III Men's Volleyball Championship
The NCAA Division III Men’s Volleyball Committee has selected MIT to serve as the host for the 2013 championship. The Division III Men’s Volleyball Championship will be played at the Rockwell Cage on MIT’s campus in Cambridge, Mass., on April 26-28.
“We are excited to host this year’s championship at MIT,” said Gary Williams, chair of the Division III Men’s Volleyball Committee and associate athletic director at Carthage. “The staff and campus have a history and tradition of hosting first class events. Our committee is very much looking forward to working with them to make this event a memorable one for student-athletes.”
Cambridge was named to replace Hoboken, N.J., which had been scheduled to host the championship at the Canavan Arena on the campus of Stevens Institute of Technology. On Oct. 15, the NCAA relocated six 2013 championships from New Jersey because of a new state law there allowing sports wagering on professional and collegiate games.
The NCAA championships sports wagering policy strictly prohibits the conducting of any championship session in a state with legal wagering that is based on single-game betting. This policy is in place to ensure the integrity of the game, provide consistency in awarding NCAA championships and to address concerns for student-athlete well-being.
