Tampa 3, Concordia-St. Paul 2Dec. 1, 2005

Kearney, Neb. - The #3 University of Tampa volleyball team (29-3) defeated #2 Concordia University St. Paul (30-5) three games to two. The scores for the games were 27-30, 30-23,28-30, 30-27, 15-11. In game four, Tampa relinquished a six point lead, and looked as if they were going to raise the white flag on the rest of the match. The Spartans battled until they won that game, and used that momentum to propel them to a victory in game five, giving them the match. Senior Ericka Womack had this to say about their loss of the lead followed by their comeback, We work on being down, and having to tie it up. We had to focus point by point. The win pits Tampa against #16 Grand Valley State University in the National semi-final match on Saturday.

Tampa was led by a strong performance by senior Kayla Mora. She provided strong offense tallying 14 kills. She led the team with five service aces. Mora also provided solid defense with 15 digs, second on the team. Libero Margeaux Sinibaldi anchored the defense with a team high 17 digs. Katelen Dixon was the offensive leader for the Spartans with 16 kills. Tampas All-American Ericka Womack chipped in with 13 kills, and a team high hitting percentage of .294.

Tampa returns to action Saturday December 2, 2005 against #16 Grand Valley State University in the National Semi-Finals at 5:00 PM Central Time (6:00 PM Eastern Time).
