No.3-ranked Cal State San Bernardino extended its home court win streak to 33 in a row Saturday night with a 3-0 sweep of San Francisco State in a California Collegiate Athletic Association volleyball match before 279 fans in Coussoulis Arena.
The Coyotes, 5-1 overall, 2-0 in the CCAA, prevailed over a determined Gators team 25-15, 25-21 and 25-20. San Francisco State is now 3-4 overall and 0-2 in the conference.

All-American outside hitter Jane Chafeh slammed down 14 kills on .333 hitting with three solo blocks and a block assist to lead the Coyotes while all-American middle blocker Samantha Middleborn had 10 kills on .368 hitting with four  blocks. The Coyotes hit .348 for the match to .122 for SFSU.

Lauren Walsh led the Gators with 10 kills and six digs.

Sophomore setter Camille Smith had 35 assists and three block assists while junior libero Kelcie Tolan accounted for 10 digs for CSUSB.

A sweep of this weekend's CCAA matches could mean that the Coyotes move up to No. 1 in the nation since No. 1 Concordia-St. Paul lost two matches at the Premier Tournament in Denver -- 3-2 to No. 2 Tampa and 3-1 to No. 18 Wayne State. Its record is now 5-3. Tampa lost to Southwest Minnesota State in the same tournament and is now 5-2.

In tonight's match against SFSU, the Coyotes pulled away from SFSU in the first set with a 7-0 run to lead 20-10 and finished the set on a Gators attack error. In the second set, the Gators pulled ahead 10-9 on a Coyotes service error and maintain a one- or two-point lead until the Coyotes tied it at 15-all on another Gators attack error.

CSUSB outscored the Gators 5-2 to take a 20-17 lead and took the set on a kill by Priscilla Collings off an assist by Smith.
SFSU led by one point, 2-1, early in the third set but the Coyotes took command at 11-6 on a solo block by Chafeh and pulled away to lead 19-12 on a kill by Middleborn. The Gators fought back to get within three at 23-20 on a service ace by Sarah Kurfess but Mercedes Winchester and Morgan Carty closed out the match with back-to-back kills.

The Coyotes go on the road next weekend to play at No. 21 Cal State L.A. on Friday night. It will be the first meeting of the two teams since the Coyotes defeated the Golden Eagles in the West Region championship match last November. CSUSB will play at Cal State Dominguez Hills on Saturday.
